Grammy Award-winning pianist/conductor Peter Nero will be presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award by the American Federation of Musicians (AFM), and Local 77, AFM, at the Peter Nero and the Philly Pops® concert on Wednesday, October 7. Tom Lee, International President of the American Federation of Musicians, and Joseph Parente, President of the Philadelphia Musicians’ Union Local 77, AFM, will make the presentation to Mr. Nero.

8:00 p.m.—Concert begins
9:15 p.m.—Award presentation on stage of Verizon Hall, beginning of the second half of the concert

Said Mr. Lee, “The AFM is pleased to present this award to Peter Nero. He’s a terrific artist and contributor to the world of music. His talents are unsurpassed.”
Mr. Parente remarked, “I’m honored to be a part of this presentation to Peter. Hearing and watching him over the years with the POPS here in Philadelphia, I can tell you no one deserves this award more than he does.”
The Lifetime Achievement Award is given to a musician who, over his/her career, has made significant contributions to the entertainment industry and affected the lives of musicians in an extraordinary way. Peter Nero marks only the fourth musician to be honored with this award in the AFM’s more than 100-year history. The previous three recipients are prolific guitarist and recording artist Harold Bradley, Canadian musician and Senator Tommy Banks, and U.S. Congressman John Conyers.
